Monty has invested over two decades serving the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the broader community—from patrol and corrections certification to civil responsibilities and community partnerships. He’s not done serving; he’s ready to keep going, keep growing, and continue the work with the men and women who protect our county every day.
Monty helped create the Big Buddy Program to connect deputies with elementary students in a positive way. Over lunch, kids and deputies talk, share experiences, and build trust. These small conversations encourage mentorship and help young people see law enforcement as partners. By starting early, we’re strengthening the bonds that make our community safer and more united.
Under Monty’s leadership, the Bi-County Sheriff’s Posse was launched after a dangerous missing-person search in the 7,000-acre dunes. What began as a critical need has grown into an 85-member volunteer search and rescue team, trained and equipped to respond when lives are at stake. This effort not only enhances emergency response but also strengthens the partnership between law enforcement and our community.
I was honored to carry the colors in this morning parade. Moments like these make me grateful to serve our outstanding county.
What an incredible opportunity to attend the annual Eagle Lakes fundraiser. The outpouring of community support was truly inspiring and powerful reminder of the strong bond we share.
This community holds a special place in my heart, and being able to celebrate our nation’s independence surrounded by families, veterans, and neighbors was truly an honor.
It was an honor to facilitate the partnership between the Basin City Freedom Rodeo and the Man Up Crusade, supporting domestic violence awareness.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
It was an honor to attend and share time with our community extending our appreciation to our country’s veterans.
Unlike municipal police departments, the Sheriff’s Office also oversees civil processes and jail operations. Monty’s career reflects that full scope—patrol, corrections certification, civil duties, and working across Franklin County’s 12,000+ square miles of varied communities.
Monty’s entire career has been with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office—steady leadership, long-term commitment, and continuity for the team and the community.
Monty brings experience that includes responsibilities beyond city policing, including jail, court security and functions, and civil processes—areas where training, liability, and accountability matter.
While I am acquainted with hundreds of elected Sheriffs nationwide, I have publicly “endorsed” only two in the past 25 years. In order to do so I need to know they are compassionate, principled professionals with executive skills who want the job … not because they want the title … but because they are committed to community building, healthy organizational cultures and making the best use of the public resources with which they are entrusted.
This is only the third time I have added my little voice on behalf of any candidate for Sheriff. Monty Huber is a stellar professional, a visionary leader and a proven steward of public resources. It would mean a lot to the future of public safety in Franklin County if my friends across Washington State would spread the word and help get out the vote for Monty Huber For Sheriff
